Genertec joins 20th China-ASEAN Expo

2023-09-19

The 20th China-ASEAN Expo was held between Sept. 16 and 19 in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Genertec president Lu Yimin and senior executive Wang Xusheng attended the opening ceremony of the event upon invitation on Sept. 17.

Genertec's business relationship with ASEAN countries dates back to the 1950s. In the past decade, the group has successfully implemented nearly 50 international engineering projects with bilateral significance, substantial international influence, and regional impact. The total contract value of these projects exceeded $5.5 billion.

In the exhibition area for centrally administered enterprises at this year's China-ASEAN Expo, Genertec showcased its prominent engineering projects and international medical service projects launched in ASEAN countries in recent years.

Building new highland for engineering services

In Malaysia, the Manjung Power Plant project undertaken by Genertec is the first million-kilowatt ultra-supercritical power plant built by Chinese companies overseas. The ongoing construction of the Light Rail Transit Line 3 project by Genertec will provide Malaysia with a higher passenger capacity and a fast, efficient transportation system.

In Indonesia, the Central Java Power Plant project, in which Genertec is involved, is the country's first single-unit power plant with a capacity of one million kilowatts. The 500,000-tonne Blast Furnace project of Growth Steel Group, constructed by Genertec, is the first blast furnace for iron making in Southeast Asia. This project has brought Chinese equipment and technological standards to Indonesia's metallurgical industry.

In Myanmar, a new locomotive and passenger car assembly plant project undertaken by Genertec has provided the country with a complete set of production lines, assembly technologies, and techniques with regard to locomotive production, greatly enhancing Myanmar's capabilities in the production and assembly of railway equipment.

In Vietnam, the SREPOK3 hydropower plant undertaken by Genertec has significantly alleviated the power shortage in the central part of the country.

In Laos, Genertec is currently building a agricultural irrigation project, which is expected to reduce floods in downstream areas and bring benefits to urban water supply, tourism, culture, aquaculture and other sectors.

Building bridge of health, fostering people-to-people bond

In the exhibition area displaying Genertec's health services, the group showcased the various medical and health services it has provided to enterprises engaged in the Belt and Road Initiative, especially those in ASEAN countries, such as public health, occupational disease prevention and control, regional epidemic prevention and control, on-site diagnosis and treatment, remote consultation, and traditional Chinese medicine healthcare.

Genertec possesses a large number of medical institutions that are widely distributed. Over the years, it has been serving oil and gas pipeline projects in countries such as Myanmar and Thailand undertaken by centrally administered and state-owned enterprises. By establishing overseas clinics, it has provided medical care, health management, emergency rescue, and incident management services to over 1,500 employees.

Besides, it has set up the Genertec Clinic via Internet to offer real-time health monitoring, early warning, and medical consultation services for employees of enterprises engaged in overseas business.

During the China-ASEAN Expo this time, the Global Tech-Transfer Hainan Center and the Indonesian Chinese Association signed a project to build an innovation park of traditional Chinese medicine, aiming to create a platform for research and application of traditional Chinese and Indonesian medicines, and lead a new model of diagnosis and treatment services.
